Shepshed Gateway Feature - Kirkhill

This sculpture formed part of Leicestershires Market Town Programme which amongst other aims to make the smaller centre more welcoming and these improvements include streetscape improvements such as improved signage, new footways etc together with newsletters for businesses and a shopping guide.

The artwork cost £20,000 and was funded largely by the LSEP (LeicesterShire Economic partnership)with some Leicestershire County Council support.

The artwork was commissioned following workshops which were held during Summer 2005 with local school children in Shepshed. The children's perception of Shepshed was built into the design, together with the local heritage of sheep and woodlands. The artist was Anu Patel.
