Sainsbury's Make The Difference Day

1% Fat Milk giveaway at Sainsbury’s Belgrave Road, Fosse Park, Wigston, Glen Road
This Friday (16th May) Sainsbury’s Belgrave Road, Fosse Park, Wigston and Glen Road Oadby will be giving customers the chance to receive a free pint of its new 1% fat milk.
As part of Sainsbury’s ‘Make the difference’ day customers will be given the opportunity to sample 1% fat milk, which has almost half the fat of semi-skimmed milk, but all of its goodness and taste.
So on this ‘Make the difference day Sainsbury’s Belgrave Road will be challenging customers to see if they can tell the difference in taste between 1% fat and semi-skimmed milk and hopefully they will be encouraged to switch to this healthier alternative.
Customers will be given a coupon, which can be redeemed against one pint of Sainsbury’s own label 1% fat milk or as a part payment for two or four pints.
1% fat milk is already hugely popular in the US and Canada, and with the UK launch in Sainsbury’s stores nationwide, it looks set to become the preferred choice for health conscious shoppers who still want to enjoy the taste of semi-skimmed milk. If all UK semi-skimmed consumers were to switch to 1% fat milk, they could reduce their saturated fat intake by a massive 12,000 tonnes per year!
Although it contains 40% less fat than semi-skimmed, 1% fat milk retains the same amount of calcium and vitamin B, making it a great choice every day.
Tony Howe, store manager, says: “I am delighted that we are giving customers the opportunity to try this new product and taste for themselves how great it is. I am going to be pouring it over my cereal every morning!”
‘Make the difference’ days are a series of days, one each month, aimed at encouraging positive action and change across a range of environmental, health and ethical issues

Great Central Railway help Quorn bloom!

The team at Quorn Station is keen to reinstate the small flower bed at the start of the station’s drive, under the big GCR sign, to provide a welcome for our visitors. As our site team is few in number, we are looking for volunteers to take on this small project.
If you are interested, please contact Lynn Hill on 01509 632335.
