Second man dies following collision on A47 in Billesdon
Officers from Leicestershire Constabulary's Serious Collision
Investigation Unit have named a second man who has died following a road
traffic collision in Billesdon.
The incident happened at about midday on Sunday June 1, 2008 on the A47,
Leicester near to its junction with Old Leicester Road and involved a
black Harley Davison Electroglide motorcycle and a blue BMW M3.
The pillion passenger on the motorcycle, Mr Robert Alan Summarsell (54)of North Ryton, Leeds received fatal injuries. The rider, Mr Gareth
Robert Summarsell (25) of North Ryton, Leeds received serious injuries
and was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment to his
injuries. He died on Saturday June 7, 2008.
The driver of the BMW was treated at the Leicester Royal Infirmary for
minor injuries.
A man was arrested in connection with the incident and is currently on
police bail pending further enquiries.
PC Robert Lapworth, who is investigating the incident, said: "The
motorcycle was travelling towards Leicester and the BMW in the opposite
direction towards Billesdon.
"We would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the vehicles
prior to the collision to please get in touch."

Road Works on A47
ADVANCE NOTICE OF A TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER.
UPPINGHAM ROAD (A47) (PART), EAST NORTON
Works are due to take place in Uppingham Road, East Norton, by Leicestershire County Council on 23 June 2008, which will entail the restriction of that length of road whilst carriageway resurfacing works are in progress.
It is anticipated that works will commence on 23 June 2008 and last for 2 weeks, a Press Release will be issued shortly before works start to confirm these details.
