THURSDAY SEPT 4:
Following a victorious local election result in the Parish of Ellistown & Battleflat last week, a local anti- incinerator action group is to be formed. Suggested name for group:
Ellistown & Battleflat against Incinerator... EBAI (ebay).
The group hopes to pre-empt the selection of the Coalville area as the site for a 200,000 tonne per annum waste incinerator for Leicestershire & surrounding counties.
Local campaigners have already scored a victory over landowners UK Coal, after UK Coal's planning application to build warehouses was rejected,although UK Coal has now submitted a second application for the site.
The Ellistown action group are not the only anti-incineration campaigners working in the county. FoE Leicestershire & Leicestershire Anti-Incinerator Network (LAIN) have been successful in calling attention to another potential incinerator site at Whetstone, Leicester.

Campaigners need to have YOUR views on this very serious subject, so PLEASE post your comments on the Discussion Forum section. Don't be shy, if this goes ahead it will affect local people for generations to come, especially those living down wind of the incinerator, due to the toxic fall-out from the chimney.

Swepstone Flower Festival
Many favourite hymns will be depicted at the Flower Festival at St Peter's Church, Swepstone on Saturday, Sunday and Monday 13th-15th September.
The Church will be open between 10.30am and 6pm each day (11.30am on the Sunday) to view the beautiful arrangements and displays (the Harvest Festival Service is at 10.30am on the Sunday).
Home made refreshments will be served at the Church Hall on all three days. On the Saturday there will also be an Attic Sale, Tombola, Handicraft and Artwork Sale.
