These are details and descriptions of people working for and around your local community

The Council is composed of 52 councillors elected every four years.
Local Government is provided by local Councils which are charged with meeting the statutory requirements laid down by Central Government to supply services to the local community.

Political parties have different ideas of how to meet these statutory requirements and different local priorities. The Borough of Charnwood is divided into 29 Wards with the residents of each ward electing 1, 2 or 3 Councillors to represent them. The political party/parties with the most Councillors form an Administration to run the Council and decide the policies they will pursue and how the local services will be provided.

Councillors monitor services to ensure that they are delivered efficiently and effectively and are jointly responsible for gross expenditure of around £64.5m.
They represent the public interest as well as the views of the people in the ward that elected them and assist residents with problems encountered in their local area or with Council services.

Beat Officers provide community policing through partnership and problem-solving. They aim to be as visible as possible in the areas they serve. They are committed to providing reassurance to all members of the community, including residents, local businesses and organisations. Beat Officers target local crime, with a particular focus upon reducing anti-social behaviour and disorder.

CSOs spend much of their time on patrol in communities and you should approach them with any questions or worries you have about anti-social behaviour or crime in your area.

These are people who are involved in various activities in the area, they may be attached to an agency or acting in a voluntary way for the good of the local community
