  • Guide to recording memories

This is a guide to recording oral history interviews developed by the East Midlands Oral History Archive (EMOHA)

According to Kelly's Directory, in 1921 Bardon parish had a population of 511. It also mentions that 'the quarries here, belonging to Messrs. Ellis and Everard, are said to be the largest in the county for the production of granite for macadamising' (road surfacing).

In the 1990s the old village was demolished so the quarry could expand, and a new village was built nearby. The aerial photograph link on the left of this page shows how large the local quarry is now, and the new village and sports ground to the north-west of Bardon.

The following links will take you to sound clips from interviews held by the East Midlands Oral History Archive.
