BARROW COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

The Community Association functions to oversee and advise on the development of community activities in Barrow on Soar. In addition to acting as an advisory body to the Governors of Humphrey Perkins Community Centre, we also DO lots of things in the village.
* produce Barrow Voice
* created and now oversee the Fossil Trail
* administer this Village web site
* have a very active Events Committee that runs all sorts of entertainments including dances and theatrical events
* run a Panto Group for young people of all ages (7 - 70 !) and a Youth Theatre for the genuinely young
* run a Community Bar at HPHS for the benefit of Affiliated Groups
* work closely with the Parish Council in running the Village Bike Ride and the Switching on of the village Christmas lights
* created the Barrow Parish Walks leaflet, available free from the Post Office, Paper Shop, Library and Parish Office and also available to download from the Village Walks section of this website.
* produced Barrow Signpost,a directory of information and contacts for pretty much everything that gors on in Barrow.
* Heritage Action Group is part of BUSCA and is involved with major projects.
* support the Youth Action Group
* support the Sports Action Group
* we have just incorporated the Village Hall Action Group as a part of BUSCA

etc etc etc

There really is something for everyone. If you are a "doer" then there are plenty of hands-on possibilities. If you like organising events or people, there are lots of little sub-groups who would really welcome your input.

Our main Community Council meets four times a year. The next Council meeting is on Wednesday 10th March 2010 at 7.30 in the Library of HPHS. Do come along.

Our next event is the Valentine Dance on Sat 13th February but it is fully booked. Following that is a Spring Dance on Sat March 27th. Phone Sue Rodgers on 416533 for tickets and information.
