Match Report - 4th February 2006: Birstall 2 - 3 Barrow Belles
The girls played their second "friendly" against Birstall United, away at Meadow Lane Birstall on Saturday 4th February 2006. The squad was made of of the following players: Katy MacDonald; Sarah Rayns; Ruth Bromage-Nocton: Rachael Moorhouse; Lauren Chamberlain; Holly Findley; Ellie Higton; Codie Brown; Beth Johnson; Sarah Robinson; Sammi Pestell; Jessica Lofthouse; Esther Dargie.

The "Belles" got off to a flying start taking the lead almost from the kick-off. Jessica Lofthouse powering through the centre of the field and catching Birstall cold to make it 0-1. The lead was quickly doubled by new player Sarah Robinson, who showed great prowess on the ball beating several defenders and finishing well into the bottom corner to make it 0-2.

Birstall wanted revenge for their previous 4-1 defeat at Riverside Park, and got back into the match before half-time with two well taken goals. At half-time the score stood at 2-2.

Numerous changes were made by the Barrow Coach (Ken Brown) in the second half to keep all the girls involved, and the result was put beyond Birstall by Ester Dargie, who got the well deserved winner!

It was a very good performance by the "Belles" again, given the circumstances, and with a bit more composure in front of goal the scoreline could and should have been greater in Barrows' favour.
