Crime Sheet June 2008
Dear Resident,
There were 19 crimes of note reported to Police during May. While there are no particular trends or hotspots a significant number of these crimes occurred overnight & therefore I would urge residents to take an extra look out of the window before going to bed or if you happen to get up during the night. If you do see anyone acting suspiciously then please do call the Police as this can be our best opportunity to catch people look to gain entry to property or cause damage.
Leicestershire Constabulary has launched a summer campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of leaving doors & ground floor windows open during the summer. The campaign is called “Don’t Advertise Your Home to Thieves this Summer” Superintendent Jez Cottrill, who is heading up the campaign, said: "Open windows and doors can let in more than just fresh air. Unfortunately opportunist thieves come out in the hot weather as well. "It is really frustrating because a lot of these burglaries are preventable. Please think twice about security this summer and shut those windows and doors when you're out of the room."
