BARROW UPON SOAR NEW HORIZONS: a friendship group for those who have been bereaved

WHO ARE WE???

We are a group of about 20 people who meet every first Monday in the month generally from 2.00 until 3.30pm in the Methodist Church Coffee Lounge, North Street. Sometimes we start earlier for lunch or for our outings.

WHAT DO WE DO??

We offer fun and friendship and a listening service when required for those who have been bereaved. There is often a speaker at the monthly meeting and time to socialise with fellow members who are at the different stages of bereavement. We also organise outings to places of interest and enjoy meals out. It is a wonderful way to meet new friends.

ABOUT THE GROUP

New Horizons was started in 2006 and held its first meeting in September of that year when four people enjoyed a chat and refreshments with the volunteer helpers. From these early beginnings we have now grown to some 20 members. The group is run by volunteers and membership is free.

FUTURE EVENTS

We have a programme of speakers for the year and they will cover topics ranging from Spring Flowers to DIY. There will be a demonstration of Reflexology and an opportunity to learn about Fairly Traded Goods. We shall also enjoy a spring lunch, our summer outing and Christmas party. Look out for a copy of our programme in the library, Health Centre and local churches and on the events page of this website. The meetings for 2008 are also set out below.
