Available Church and Burial Records

Botcheston is a hamlet without a church or a chapel. Until the twentieth century, it was part of the parish of Ratby and all ceremonies were recorded in the parish register of Ratby church. In 1936 Botcheston was transferred to Desford and from that time all ceremonies of Botcheston people were recorded in the registers of Desford Parish Church.

This lists the records of christenings[C], marriages[M] and burials[B] which took place at Ratby parish church and which can be found at the Record Office for Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland. The dates for which banns are held are shown in brackets after the marriage dates. Bishop's Transcripts [BTs] are contemporary copies which are also shown. It also provides information about burials and cremations outside the parish church.
