Parish Council Responsibilities

The Parish Council is responsible for the following:

1. Own and maintain three Playing Fields, Kirkby Road, Pickard Recreation Ground and Botcheston Play Area.
2. Own and maintain open spaces at Lynwood Close, Belvoir Close and Newbold Road Corner Shrubbery.
3. Maintain 44 Street Lights.
4. Own and maintain the Cemetery and the adjacent field.
5. Own and manage the Allotments.
6. Act as a liaison authority with Leicestershire County Council in respect of highways and footpaths.
7. Submit representations to the Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council in respect of planning matters.
8. Give grants to various voluntary and sporting bodies in the Parish.
9. Own Botcheston Village Hall, the Scout Hall and act as custodian trustee for Desford Village Hall.
10. Pay the insurance for Botcheston Village Hall, Desford Village Hall and Sport in Desford.
11. Own and maintain numerous public seats, bus shelters, notice boards, dog waste bins and planters.
12. Maintain the Village Pump and Colliery Wheel.
13. Own the land at Sport in Desford.
14. Provide the Christmas Tree and lights.
15. Managed the budget which you pay via the Council Tax.
16. Produce Annual Accounts.
