Parish Council Responsibilities
The Parish Council is responsible for the following:
- Own and maintain three Playing Fields, Kirkby Road, Pickard Recreation Ground and Botcheston Play Area.
- Own and maintain open spaces at Lynwood Close, Belvoir Close and Newbold Road Corner Shrubbery.
- Maintain 44 Street Lights.
- Own and maintain the Cemetery and the adjacent field.
- Own and manage the Allotments.
- Act as a liaison authority with Leicestershire County Council in respect of highways and footpaths.
- Submit representations to the Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council in respect of planning matters.
- Give grants to various voluntary and sporting bodies in the Parish.
- Own Botcheston Village Hall, the Scout Hall and act as custodian trustee for Desford Village Hall.
- Pay the insurance for Botcheston Village Hall, Desford Village Hall and Sport in Desford.
- Own and maintain numerous public seats, bus shelters, notice boards, dog waste bins and planters.
- Maintain the Village Pump and Colliery Wheel.
- Own the land at Sport in Desford.
- Provide the Christmas Tree and lights.
- Managed the budget which you pay via the Council Tax.
- Produce Annual Accounts.
