Walk 3: Enderby to Leicester Forest EastA distance of 3¾ miles taking approximately 1¾ hours through the back ways of Old Enderby Village and attractive countryside to Leicester Forest East.ParkingParking may be available at the New Inn Public House after seeking the Landlord’s consent. Bus ServicesArriva operates bus services through the village passing along King Street and Co-operation Street where bus stops are located. Ease of AccessThis walk is suitable for prams and wheelchairs until you reach ‘Park Lodge’ and ‘Pen Crag’ on Harold’s Lane. StartSTART at the Car Park of the New Inn Public House on Chapel Street, Enderby. Turn left and proceed along Moores Lane and where the Lane bears to the right go straight ahead keeping the entrance to ‘Cliff House’ and the side road to your left. The pathway leads you to Hall Walk (B582). Cross Hall Walk and go through the Car Park at the side of the the Plough Public House following the path to where Harold’s Lane joins from the right. Progressing along Harold’s Lane pass ‘Park Lodge’ on your right and, set back in the trees, ‘Pen Crag’ on your left. (Not suitable for prams and wheelchairs beyond this point) Go by the side of the metal gate next to a huge granite boulder and onwards with the boundary fence of Enderby Warren Quarry to your right. Continue along the Lane to its junction with the metalled access road to the landfill site. Turn right keeping the Quarry to your right and Fox Covert to your left. Where the now unmade road turns to the right, continue onwards. Proceed as directed by the waymarker sign at the stile by the gate, beyond Warren Farm on your right and the next waymarker sign when ‘Keeper’s Cottage’ appears on your left. After passing the Cottage the track now veers to the left beyond a gate where the multi directional Waymarker sign shows a blue arrow pointing towards the M69 Motorway, which can be seen in the hollow. Keeping the hedge to your left and open fields to your right, continue along this track which takes you over the M69 Motorway and onwards crossing a cattle grid and reaching the junction with the metalled Lubbesthorpe Bridle Road at Abbey Farm. Turn left at Abbey Farm by the entrance to Hopyard Farm on your left and continue along Lubbesthorpe Bridle Road passing a spinney also to the left. Passing by a track to your right, (an attractive tree stands at the junction) continue beyond the drive leading to the New House Farm on your left with the road meandering onwards beyond the right fork to the Old Warren Farm. Advancing beyond this fork look for a footpath to your right where you cross a stile and keeping by the side of the hedge to your right continue along the field headland following in the direction indicated by the yellow waymarker. Reaching the field boundary identified by a prominent tree on your right continue forward still keeping the broken hedge to your right and head towards the residential development straight ahead. Crossing as stile where field meets residential development continue onwards to the junction with Forest House Lane.
