The people of Castle Donington said they wanted a Farmers Market, so we went out and persuaded people to try it!

The project was initially supported by North West Leicestershire District Council, emda, Leicestershire County Council and Leicestershire Food Links Ltd. It is now run and managed by a local volunteer cooperative based in Castle Donington.

The first one took place as part of the May Day Mediaeval Market 2002, and it has gone from strength to strength ever since. We celebrated our fifth birthday in June 2007!

But we still need more help. The awnings are being erected and organisation being run by very few people. Please contact us if you can help for one Saturday a month.

CD Farmers Market Cooperative

The Farmers Market in Donington is coordinated by a cooperative of local people, for you.

We've busy trying to think of what you would like to see.

Recently there's been lots of competitions - the Wakes Cakes contests, Christmas celebrations, and Cookery contests. We've also asked people to demonstrate at the Market, from the Loughborough College's amazing haute cuisine and food preparation techniques to simply making gorgeous pickles.

If you have anything you would like to see or do, please let us know.

So what can I get at the Farmers Market?

There are lots of regular stalls, including meat farmers offering beef, lamb, pork, cockerel and ostrich. A lot of this is already prepared and cooked into tasty delicacies.
There's fresh vegetables, plants and flowers ensure a really green feel. Breads, fruit pies, fudges, honey, and locally produced beers and wines all add to the temptations.

Once you've tasted the goods, we guarantee you want to be back for more!!

There's ample parking next door in the Community College, and home made tea and cakes for refreshment, as well as keeping the younger ones happy!

Whilst you're at it, take a stroll down Apiary Gate, and visit the other shops in Donington.

There's plenty to see.

OK, so when are they held? (Click on the link below)
