» CosbyBus Drives Into The BrookOn 26th April 2006 the road surface outside Cosby Library, where the road goes over the Brook, was being replaced. The road width was restricted and traffic controls were in place. As they left the bus stop outside the Library buses going towards Leicester had to pull out very sharply. One bus failed to return to the roadway after pulling out for the roadworks and continued on into the Brook. Buried within the road surface but revealed during the renovation work was a gas main carrying gas over the Brook. To remove the bus safely it was necessary to lift the bus over the gas main rather than just drag it out. Because there was always the risk of damaging the gas main support by the fire and ambulance services was maintained throughout the operation which took several hours. ![]() The bus in the Brook and the Leicestershire County Council lorry it collected on its way.
