Children at Countesthorpe Library in Leicestershire were over the moon to receive a £10 book voucher after taking part in the Reading Voyage Challenge. The lucky winners were picked at random by staff at the library from a selection of all the children who took part in the challenge over the summer.

The Building Society provided £50 to the library to pay for prizes for children taking part in the reading event for children aged from four to 11. The Reading Voyage, takes places in libraries nationwide and is led by The Reading Agency.

Leicestershire Library Services, said: “The Reading Voyage is a great way to encourage children to carry on reading over the summer holidays. We look forward to seeing lots of children and their families in libraries over the summer and they can be sure to find something to interest every member of their family.”

Helen Lockren, Public Relations Officer at Hinckley and Rugby Building Society, added: “We have been supporting the summer reading challenge for children in the Hinckley area for a number of years and are very pleased to be able to contribute to encouraging young readers in the community.

The society contributed £600 in total to libraries in the region at: Broughton Astley, Coalville, Countesthorpe, Coventry, Hinckley, Lutterworth, Market Bosworth, Nuneaton, Rugby, South Wigston and Leicester City Central Library.
