Desford & District Local History Society

Now in its 31st year the society has:

Established an archive collection

Restored the Winding Wheel from Desford Pit

Restored the Village Pump

Installed a series of plaques in the Village Hall depicting the history of Desford.

We meet bi-monthly
at Desford Free Church,
Chapel Lane.
Meetings begin at 19.45 and are free to members

Visitors are welcome on payment of visitors fee

What we do ....

As well as holding bi-monthly meetings with speakers at Desford Free Church we also take part in:

      • Local visits during the summer months

      • Projects
      • Exhibitions

We maintain an archive collection, produce a regular newsletter for members and other occasional publications

Publications Available

Recollections £2.00 & A Brief History of Desford 50p.

Both publications are available from Pat Crane and can be purchased from St Martin's Church (which is also open on 1st Saturday morning in the month). Recollections can be purchased from the Bluebell public house.
