Summer Activities

Mini-beasts!

This summer we have been running some fun sessions on the theme of 'mini-beasts'. We have had two sessions in Libraries run by some people from the Holly Hayes environment centre. We looked at beetles and buttlerflies, read stories, took part in a play and made our own beasties. They were great sessions to do, and we came away with lots of lovely glittery bugs. We then went out to Beacon Hill where the rangers ran some multi-sensory sessions. We made stinky mixtures, led one another around blind-folded, and found out how some different creatures experience the world. We even hugged some trees!

When the circus came to town

On 22 August Splats Entertainment came to Coalville Library and Wigston Magna Library to deliver some circus skills workshops.
Marcus from Splats showed us how to balance feathers, juggle scarves and spin plates. We also raced on 'fun wheels' and 'pedal-gos'. Children also got the chance to make a clown mask or puppet, and joined in some circus stories and songs. We had a great day!
