Preserving Diseworth's past for future generations...

The Diseworth Heritage Trust exists to preserve the historical, architectural and constructional heritage of Diseworth and the surrounding villages, from Saxon times to the present day. As a Registered Charity (No. 1112223), the Trust is managed by a board of Trustees who meet regularly to plan the work of the Trust.

The Baptist Chapel in Diseworth was built in 1752, and served the village community until November 2000, when damage caused by the flooded brook finally forced its closure. Now, thanks to a major grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Diseworth Heritage Trust is restoring it as a Heritage Centre which will become a focal point for a wide range of events and activities for Diseworth, Long Whatton and the surrounding area.

The Diseworth Heritage Trust has its own extensive web site, which contains much information about the village and its history, including:

The home page and index for the Trust's web site, which will guide you through the various aspects of the Trust.

Plans for the Diseworth Heritage Centre have been drawn up after consultation with a wide cross-section of local people and organisations, and are intended to produce a multi-purpose venue to meet a wide range of needs. Click the link for details.
