Theft of Garden Planters

During the last week we have had several reports of thefts of garden planters. Various types of ornamental planers, tubs and pots have been stolen from outside peoples homes and from inside their gardens.

At this time of year many people begin to fill their planters with bedding plants ready for the coming summer season. A planted tub or planter can be an attractive item for a passing thief as they can be sold on for a few pounds quite quickly.

Harborough police would urge the following advice:-

. Consider anchoring your planters with discreet wiring to prevent easy removal.
. Consider placing a brick or two in the bottom of your planters before filling them to make them less easy to walk away with.
. Try to avoid placing planters in easy reach of any public walkways or paths.
. Consider placing any high value planters out of sight in your back garden instead of outside the front of your home.

If anyone has any information about anybody responsible for these recent thefts, you can pass this information onto the police by phoning 0116 222 2222 or you can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111.

Police Request

This is a request for information from Harborough & Lutterworth police in conjunction with the Harborough District Neighbourhood Watch Association.

To improve our intelligence of car boot sales in the local area, we need your help. Naturally we are aware of most of the larger car boot sales that occur regularly across our patch but we would like to make sure that we have all the available information.

If you are aware of a car boot sale near where you live or work, either a boot sale which happens regularly or even just a one-off, we would like to know as much information as possible. Ideally we would like to know:-

. Where it is held
. When it is held (dates and times if possible)
. Who runs or organises it (including any contact details)

You can e-mail this information to me on mktharb.lpu@leicestershire.pnn.police.uk or you can leave the details on Henry Whatley's answer machine by phoning 0116 248 3875.

Your help in providing this information may well help us to detect crime and to return stolen property to its rightful owners.

Your assistance is appreciated.
