Doddy DodsworthFor reasons outlined below, Doddy Dodsworth and his wife were invited to a reception at County Hall on October 1st 2007 to celebrate the United Nations Day of Older People. ![]() Doddy (centre) is pictured with his wife Barbara and The chairman of the County Council Mike Jones. To celebrate the United Nations International Day of Older People, the Leicestershire County Council invited nominations of people over the age of 65 who had made significant contribution to the society in which they live. Doddy Dodsworth, during his 11 years in East Norton had used his organisational, woodworking and engineering skills to provide many enhancements to the church and village, at the same time negotiating significant grant aid. He has also over the years, as chairman of ASCENT (All Saints East Norton Task Force) been the leader and motivator of a team raising funds for the restoration of the church at East Norton, not least as organiser of an annual Jazz Concert at Uppingham School. As one time Secretary of the East Norton Neighbourhood Watch Group for many years he organised enhancements to the village such as bulb and tree planting, and the procurement of a village sign to commemorate the millennium. Outside of the village he finds time to chair the Leicester Phoenix Youth Choir. Last Updated Tue, 23 Oct, 2007. |
