WHAT IS COUNTRYSIDE WATCH?

Countryside Watch is a crime prevention partnership scheme
between the Police, Welland Partnership and other agencies.

The scheme is aimed at:
Farmers
Landowners
Horse owners
Countryside users
Private rural residents
Rural businesses

WHY IS IT NEEDED?

Because of the isolated location, the Police have for a long time
recognised that rural communities are a target for criminals
with attacks on farms, stables, livestock, vehicles and wildlife.
Nowadays the criminal is more mobile and in many cases more
organised.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The scheme promotes a feeling of community and an eyes and
ears approach to crime prevention by bringing together the
Police and rural communities in the same geographical area.
Central to the scheme is the Ringmaster messaging system
which provides every member with relevant, local weekly crime
updates as well as details of any specific crime trend. The system
is also used to ask members to help the police by looking out for
a specific person or vehicle in connection with a reported crime.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF BECOMING A MEMBER?
You will receive communications via our computerised
Ringmaster system in a format to suit you.
You will be notified of any local crime issues and trends and
will receive information about suspicious activity in your
area.
All members will receive a joining pack and external weather-
proof sign.
All members can get crime prevention advice, specific to
their needs, from the Area Crime Prevention Officer.

ALL THIS IS FREE OF CHARGE

WHO RUNS THE SCHEME?
A management committee of elected volunteers. Administration
is provided by your local Community Co-ordinator based at
Market Harborough police station. All these key people meet
regularly to monitor the progress and development of the
scheme.
