» FleckneyThere are now new houses built on the land next to where the old man is standing and the road has a mini roundabout on it. This photograph is taken looking towards the Leicester and Kilby Road junction. The old man in the picture is Mr Ernie Bird who was blind and made a living from opening the gates at Wistow Park for motorists. ![]() The Old Forge located on what was originally known as Mawby's Lane has now been replaced by something rather more co-operative. See if you can identify the building and provide the modern day name of the street that it now stands on ![]() Mr Purdy used to own this men's outfitters shop on Main Street. The shop still stands today but it is more likely to sell sweets and newspapers than shirts and ties. ![]() There is still a garage located close to the one in this photo. It was owned by a gentleman called Johnny Foxon and he also owned the big house in the foreground. ![]() Go to the next page to find out what the buildings pictured above look like today and find out where they are.
