EMBLEM OF THE VILLAGE OF FLECKNEY

EMBLEM OF THE VILLAGE OF FLECKNEY: The image of the painting shown is the original Emblazonment. The black and white version is used by Fleckney Parish Council on their letterhead and the painting is on permanent display in the Lounge at Fleckney Sports and Community Centre and hangs above the Chairman's chair at Parish Council meetings. The Emblem is held in Trust for the village by the Parish Council as is the Enclosures Award and many other documents of historical interest. The Motto adopted is that of King, Earl Lovelace, the last Lord of the Manor and translates roughly as "Labour is its' own reward". The spelling of the village name is that of pre Norman times. The artists signature, bottom right of the painting, is Mr John D. Middleton. John had a keen interest in heraldry, and communicated with the highest authorities in the land to ensure that every detail of the emblem was correct.
