Fleckney Duck Pond

Ducks finding some water in the snowy winter

The pond was originally a clay pit.The main industrial activity in Fleckney in the early 1800s was brick making. Local brick companies used the clay to manufacture bricks. A number of ponds in and around Fleckney emerged as a result of clay pits falling into disuse.

It is now managed and the ducks and planting are looked after. The ducks are mainly mallards, a few hybrids and a moorhen or two.
