FLECKNEY SILVER BAND
Fleckney Silver Band have been playing for over 100 years. We have our own Band Hall and practice on Thursday evenings from 8.00. The Hall was built as a mission hall for a the Wolsey company (hence Wolsey Lane ) and was given to the band in 1938. Around 1895 when the band was forming many branches of industry mills collieries,steelworks etc started bands it was seen as an oppertunity to enlighten the working man, this in turn led to competitions Fleckney band was quite successful when competing and won a fair amount of silverware.
The traditions of the band are upheld, and we welcome experienced players or total beginners of any age.
Saturday mornings we have training sessions on how to play and read music.
