WELCOME TO GLEN PARVA PARISH COUNCIL

Logo

Under the Local Government Act 1894, Glen Parva became a civil parish within the rural District of Blaby; previously it was included in the Aylestone Ecclesiastical Parish.

The original settlement was undoubtedly near The Ford by the River Sence, which is known locally as Glen Ford; and there is strong evidence of the existence of a medieval village in this area.

Glen parva has now fully developed into a parish with a population of over 5,000.

The Parish Council owns the following areas of land:-
Dorothy Avenue Playing Field,
Aylestone Holt Spinney, Holt Acre, Alison's Acre, York Close Open Space, the ancient Moat site and part of the Great Central Way.

The Parish Council provides play equipment at Dorothy Avenue Playing Field and has also provided play equipment for young children in the grounds of South Wigston High School.
