Lieutenant Torquil Charles MacLeod 3rd Regiment Royal Horse Artillery![]() Royal Horse Artillery Torquil Charles Macleod was a Lieutenant (No. 105885) in the 3rd Regiment of the Royal Horse Artillery. He died during the first Battle of Alamein on Saturday 4th July 1942 aged 21. He was born in London and lived in Southampton and was the son of Brigadier Torquil MacLeod, late Royal Artillery and Winifred Mary Macleod of St Andrews, Fife, Scotland. No connection with Great Glen has been found (2006). Torquil’s father commanded all British Royal Artillery troops in China during WW2. ![]() 7th Armoured Division Torquil is commemorated on Column 2 of the Alamein Memorial in Egypt for those who fought in the 7th Armoured Division (Desert Rats) but have no known grave.
