Private J Morris 63rd Royal Naval Division

At the outbreak of the War in 1914 there were some 20 - 30,000 Naval Reservists who could not be allocated to a ship. As a result they were formed into 2 Infantry Brigades and one Marine Brigade. It was originally called the 'Royal Naval Division'. By 1916 there were very few of the original naval men left in the Division so it was transferred from the Admiralty to the War Office and re-designated '63rd (Royal Naval) Division' on 19th July 1916.

No details are known of a J Morris of Great Glen.
