Sunday 29th June saw the return of Uppingham Town 3rd XI for their second visit of the season to the Hallaton Rec. Uppingham were invited to bat first in very windy conditions and eventually scored 134 for 9 from their allotted 35 overs having been held to just 63 runs from the first 20 overs following some very tidy Hallaton bowling and fielding (Ross Porter 3 for 26 off 7 overs and Cillian Brugha 2 for 22 off 6 overs). Chasing 135 runs to win should not have been an onerous task for the home side, however sadly the excesses of the previous Friday night soon took their toll with Hallaton at one stage reduced to 20 for 6! Some sense of order was restored before Hallaton were eventually dismissed in the 31st over having scored 86 (Ross porter 38 not out) to lose the game by 48 runs.
