Scarecrow Festival - Saturday 13th/Sunday 14th September 2008

Scarecrow

The sun shone, the Scarecrows appeared and so did the crowds!

Over 60 imaginative and amusing Scarecrows were on display all round the village and with the aid of a “map”, the many visitors were able to wander round admiring the wit, ingenuity and skill with which these crow scarers had been made.

When the votes were counted, the favourite Scarecrow was number 31 “Molecatcher”, so well done Jilly Potter and John Mallins! Interestingly, there were votes for over 30 different entries, which shows the high level of talent!

The stalls, raffle, tombola, lunches and teas all did brisk trade and both village greens being bedecked with bunting kindly loaned by Joules, gave a really festive look.

The icecream stall was a “sell out” on both days with more emergency supplies fetched in overnight!

There was a real “buzz” in the village with lots of people helping to make the day a great success.

Over £3300 was raised towards funds for St Michael and All Angels Church. A very sincere “thank you” from Hallaton Parochial Church Council to all who gave so generously in both gifts and time.

The winning numbers of the Raffle were in order; Yellow 98, Green 261, Green 295, Green 19, Green 194, Green 305, Yellow 88, Yellow 56, White 152, White 83, Green 128 and White 151. Contact Denis Kenyon 01858 555 602.
