» HobyLOCAL BUS SERVICEThe hourly bus service (operated by Woods Coaches) to Leicester/Melton, passing through Hoby, continues into 2008 and it has proved increasingly popular. It is hoped that many more villagers will take advantage of this excellent service and leave their cars at home, save on parking and fuel charges and help save the environment. You can hail the bus at any location in the village and the driver will stop. Ask the villagers who use it. They love it! MOBILE LIBRARYThe Mobile Library, which visits our villages every fortnight will visit Ragdale and Hoby on a THURSDAY on these dates, 8th/22nd Feb, 8th/22nd March, 5th/19th April,3rd/17th/31st May, 14th/28th June, 12th/26th July, 9th 23rd Aug, 6th/20th Sept, 4th/18th Oct, 1st/15th/29th Nov and 13th Dec. The Library will stop at the phone box in Ragdale between 1325 and 1340 hrs and at Church Lane, Hoby between 1355 and 1425 hrs. INTERNET CAFE (The Greasy Spoon)The Parish Internet Cafe is available for all in the Parish to improve their computing skills. It is housed in the Hoby Methodist Chapel and has full Broadband Internet access. Free use of three wi-fi laptops is available together with a scanner, wi-fi printer and laminator. There is help and limited training to those wishing to avail themselves of the facilities. All households in the Parish have been circulated about it's availability and it is open on Monday and Thursday mornings, 10 am to 12 pm, weekly. The computers can also be made available at any other times subject to arrangement by calling either Terry Fleming on 01664 434442 or Tony Geary on 0116 260 2024. METHODIST COFFEE MORNINGA coffee Morning is held at the Methodist Chapel, Hoby every Monday Morning at 10.00am - 12.00 noon. Everyone is welcome for a drink, biscuits and a chat. Keep up with local news and perhaps avail yourself of the Parish Internet services at the same time. Children's Play AreaA play area has been installed on the Brooksby Road in Hoby for the young children of the parish. Play equipment, suitable for toddlers, seating, picnic facilities and a small grassed area is available. Although the facility is the responsibility of the Parish Council, it is run by a small committee of parents, who raise funds for its maintenance. Hoby & District Horicultural SocietyThe above Society serves Hoby, Rotherby, Ragdale and Brooksby. Allotments are available at Hoby, on the Brooksby Road. The Horticultural Show is on the first Saturday of September each year when the best garden competition is also judged. The Hon.
