The Pavilion (previously known as Huncote Leisure Centre) has a wide range of facilities on offer - sports hall, squash courts, gym, 3G outdoor pitches, BMX track, function room and changing rooms.
It is also the home SureStart Children's Centre and sports clubs with activities both inside and outside the building.
State of the Art New Facility - Opening Soon
Blaby District Council has invested the funds and now The Pavilion Leisure Centre, in Sportsfield Lane, Huncote is due to open next month with a new gym, Costa coffee shop and relaxation area.
The 160m2 life fitness gym, which was formally an office space, will have cardio equipment, weights, plus a dedicated free weights area. There will also be a soft play area for children within the coffee shop, and an outdoor balcony with views of the countryside.
The new facilities add to the squash courts, sports hall, function room, and 3G artificial turf football pitch which are already there.
Clare Smith, commercial manager at Pavilion Leisure Centre, said: "It is a massive improvement for us and a project we are really excited about.
"The work started before Christmas. The builders were due to finish in March but they are ahead of schedule.
"It will create an area for the community to come and use. We have basically turned the centre around. It is not the old building it used to be. We are really lucky to have such a lovely facility.
"Everyone is buzzing. It is so lovely for those that have been there from the start to see how the building has progressed."
Leisure centre user John Wright, 67, of Huncote, said: "It has got to be the best thing that has ever happened to Huncote. This has got to be the best leisure centre for miles. There is everything in there a gym should have – that is the beauty about it.
"You will be spoilt with finding enough time to do everything. When you think about what the previous little gym was – there was nothing."
He added that the new one sounds brilliant.
"It has been so modernised and updated.
"The best thing about it is the staff are second to none."
John Roberts, 62, of Huncote, who has been using the gym for more than five years, said: "I play squash there mainly. Adding the gym on will make it even better. It is quite a large extension. To have that facility in what is a relatively small village is great."
John added that his wife Pam uses the leisure centre and she has already joined the gym ready for when it opens.
The builders OD Projects are now putting in the final touches, and it is only a couple of weeks until the gym equipment arrives.
An open weekend will be held at the leisure centre on March 28 and 29. Then it will open officially April 1.
