» KilbyKilby Church of England School![]() Kilby has its own village school, with a school roll of 84, many of the children coming from the village itself. The school was built in the 1850's and is a listed building. The Victorian school provided a sound basic education for all until about 1930 when children over eleven went to Wigston. May Day and Empire Day were always celebrated. Although threatened many times with closure it remains open and is about to be extended to improve the facilities at the school by replacing the two portakabin that have served as classrooms over the past few years. The quality of education is good led by Mrs Charters the head teacher. On 26th June 2003 the new extension to the school was officially opened by the Bishop of Leicester. ![]() Last Updated Thu, 23 Mar, 2006. |
