Stroll Historic Kirby (19 July 2007)

Some 45 or so members and friends took the opportunity to walk around the village, visiting some of the places that may not have been visited so often in the past.
It was good to have a break in the wet weather for what was an evening much enjoyed by everybody, which ended with coffee and a chat in St. Bartholomew's Church Hall.

Annual General Meeting (17 May 2007)

The first Annual General Meeting of the Group took place on 17th May.
This was followed by a short presentation of some of the slides that Will Walker used some years ago when he talked about the history of the village.

Sheila Mileham has been researching the background to the names shown on the War Memorial in the village.
She summarised this work and provided a list of the names, together with all the information that she has discovered about these people.

Visit to Kirby Muxloe Castle - hosted by Glynn Coppack, a Warden from English Heritage. (20 July 2006)

Local History Group visit to Kirby Muxloe Castle

The visit to the Castle was hosted by Glyn Coppack from English Heritage and later in the evening he gave a short presentation in the St Bartholomew's Church Hall on 'The Hastings' Castles'.

Glynn's talk was based on the information that has been discovered, from various sources, about the original building and the plans that William Hastings had for the development of the site.
In addition he talked about the restoration work that has been recently completed, as well as the building work that William Hastings carried out at Ashby.
