10 Years to CelebrateIn April we celebrated 10 years since re-opening the Baptist church. We’ve enjoyed being part of village life even though as a congregation we live in a variety of villages up and down the Soar Valley. Thank you to everyone who has made us feel part of the village and has supported us during these years. We have particularly enjoyed participating in various events with the other churches in the village, so thanks to the Methodists and Anglicans for sharing their lives with ours. As we planned for our celebration events we’ve had good fun looking through some old photos and remembering the times we had with Graham and then Simon. Assemblies, holiday clubs, weddings, baptisms, suppers, pancakes, wacky games, the list goes on, but one of the key verses in the Bible that keeps coming back to us is one in Isaiah that really spoke to us when we re-opened the church: “Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See I’m doing a new thing, so you not perceive it?” It’s easy to get stuck reminiscing about the past so it’s good to be reminded that we need to look forward to the new things that God is going to be doing in our midst. Look forward to seeing you during the next 10 years! Andy Boston Last Updated Sun, 15 Jun, 2008. |
