August 07 - Cafe Church

We tried something different in July at our morning service – we turned the church into a café! Not an original idea on our part, a number of other Christian groups have pioneered café–church. It sounded good to us though so we thought we would experiment for one Sunday. We set it out the church with tables café style and the young people served cappuccinos, choca-mochas and cakes. Songs were intermingled with chat around the tables about things we would like to pray for, and we had a good discussion about the topic for the day before some more strawberries and scones.

So what did we make of it and what was the point? Well I think we all enjoyed having a really relaxed atmosphere for our meeting, with little in the way of formality. So although it may not be everyone’s cup of tea for a church service it would be ideal for anyone who prefers a laid back style to their Sunday Mornings. Something then we will do again, although not every week. So if that appeals to you then look out for the next time we run one in our Autumn programme.
