Ancestry publicity to Family & Local History Groups
I am pleased to say that Leicestershire Library Services has taken out a new Online subscription to Ancestry Library Edition for doing family and local history research.
The library edition of a popular genealogy website known as Ancestry co.uk is now available on public computers in Leicestershire libraries This website is a useful tool for anyone who is interested in doing family and local history research.
The Ancestry Library Edition website offers following:
UK census records from 1851 to 1901
Digital images of the census enumerator’s books for every census currently available.
The General Register Office Civil Registration Index from 1837 – 1983,
Birth, marriage and death indexes from 1984 to 2002.
UK directories and parish and probate records in transcript form
The US Federal census from 1790-1930,
The US Social Security Death Index and American military records from the Civil War through to the Korean conflict
US Immigration and Naturalisation records including original images of Passenger and Immigration lists.
This new resource is only available in Leicestershire libraries and not from home. If you want to try out Ancestry Library Edition for FREE then visit your local library and ask a member of library staff if you want to use Ancestry Library Edition.
