A Free Computer Course for Absolute Beginners!
A number of villagers enrolled for a free beginners' computer course organised by The Parish Council. Such was the group's enthusiasm, the course was extended twice so that we now have a significant number of new, experienced IT experts in our midst!

Those who undertook the course cannot speak too highly of the skills of Steve Troake, the tutor, whose patience, good humour and clear teaching have impressed everyone.

Our picture shows one of Lubenham's most senior citizens, who gained great confidence during the course and has hinted to members of her family that she would very much like a computer of her own.

The Parish Council will consider putting on another beginners' course if there is sufficient interest. There is no charge for the course and each student will have a computer to practise on during the session - no one has to share with another person. The atmosphere is friendly, informal and non-threatening and our students will definitely make progress.

A comment from one of the participants on the computer course:-

In January 2005 I decided to enrol for the computer course organised by the Parish Council for the village. The reason for me doing this was to move into the 21st century, as I had no IT skills!
Nine villagers attended on Thursday mornings and under the excellent guidance of our tutor Steve much progress was made. Everyone enjoyed the sessions and gained much knowledge.

I decided to purchase a computer and I am now emailing to friends around the world on a regular basis - even sending and receiving photographs.

I understand another course is now taking place I hope those attending will find it just as helpful."
