Lubenham's Scarecrow Weekend

Next Scarecrow Weekend coming soon - September 12th & 13th 2009

Sc46

Lubenham holds an annual Scarecrow weekend, many householders make Scarecrows and place them in their gardens or on their houses, there is a competition for the best Scarecrow. During the weekend there are many events taking place, stalls on the Village Green, a chariot race, music, a barbeque, vintage car and vehicle displays and tractor rides around the village. It's a great event that everyone joins in. Lubenham Scarecrow Weekend

Lubenham Village are hosting their 8th annual Scarecrow Weekend on Sat 13th & Sun 14th September.

The event last year was a brilliant success, with a record number of visitors to the village. This year’s event looks set to be better than ever…
The main attraction has to be the many scarecrows which will be on show all around the village.
On the Village Green we will have a huge array of stalls, from traditional village games to craft & local produce for sale.
On Saturday, Market Harborough Gymnastics & Trampoline Club will be putting on a show and on Sunday there will be a vintage & classic car display along with the Harley Davidson Motorcycle Club – their parade last year was literally traffic stopping!
More entertainment is on The Green in the form of live music, fairground rides and the 2nd year of the village Home & Garden Show.
Refreshments can be found on The Green, at All Saints Church, The Coach & Horses Pub and the Village Hall, where the local art club & heritage group will be holding an Art & Photo Exhibition.

As with all our scarecrow events, all the money raised over the weekend will be donated to local groups and organisations.

Scarecrows come in a variety of guises, some telling a story others with animation, while some look remarkably like their owners. The speed camera policeman scarecrow did an excellent job of slowing down the traffic on the Main Road and the schoolboy soaked passers by when they were not looking.
