Trust announces new chair
Trust announces new chair

Cathy Ellis has been appointed as the new acting chair of NHS Leicestershire County and Rutland by the Appointments Commission.

Cathy, who is currently the vice-chair, will take up the position on 1 October following the retirement of John Gant CB at the end of September after seven years as a chairman with the NHS in Leicestershire and Rutland. Her remuneration will be £39,406 per annum.

She has previously worked as a self-employed business consultant and at a senior level for Coors Brewers in HR, finance and procurement. She has an MBA and trained as a chartered accountant with PriceWaterhouseCoopers. More »

“I am delighted to have been chosen to succeed John as chair of NHS Leicestershire County and Rutland and am really looking forward to my new responsibilities,” said Cathy.

Non-executive director Kaaeed Mamujee will also be leaving the trust on 30 September after four years as its audit chairman.

The Appointments Commission has also decided that Warwick Kendrick, a current non-executive director and qualified accountant who works as a self-employed business consultant, will be taking over Kaaeed’s role as acting chair of the audit committee from 1 October. Warwick’s remuneration will be £13,136 per annum.

With Cathy’s appointment as acting chair of the trust board and Warwick’s as acting chair of the audit committee, the number of other non-executive directors serving on the board will reduce to four, consisting of Paul Hackwood, Ruth Ingman, David Mell and Pauline Tagg. « Less
