Markfield Neighbourhood Watch

Well Done AGAIN Lads and Lasses
Last month I commenced by congratulating our local youngsters on their good behaviour throughout Halloween and subsequent Bonfire Night celebrations and concluded by asking our Lads and Lasses not to let their older relatives down over the Xmas and New Year period of festivity. I am delighted to report that they lived up to their well earned good reputation and that period passed without incident. I have said it before and now I am saying it again, We are proud of the vast majority of local youngsters who are honest, hard working and a real credit to their Mums, Dad, Grannies & Granddads.

Our New Officer
Having said that there is always the bad apple who, despite the endeavours of their caring relatives, can become a bit big for their boots and seem to regard themselves as “untouchable”. Fortunately, they usually have to learn the facts of life the hard way and having met for the first time our new Police Officer for this area, P.c. Harlock, I thought it only right that I should pass on the name and address of a certain young man whose general bad behaviour is, allegedly, getting out of hand and includes alcohol abuse and, worse still, drug dealing. Perhaps this might ring a bell with the lad and/or his parents and he will pull himself together before he finds himself feeling the firm grip of our latest, but very experienced addition, on his shoulder. By the way, if anyone wants to contact our new officer all you have to do is ring 0116 222 2222, follow the instructions and leave your details and message for P.C. 4338 who will then get back to you. Although sorry to see P.c. Diaper, with whom our local N.W. had a very good relationship leave this area, I am confident P.c. HARLOCK will fit in excellently.

Our Next Quarterly Meeting
This brings me to our next open meeting when all members of our local public are invited to attended and this, to avoid any confusion, includes everyone in Markfield and Field Head who are within the Hinckley Policing Unit’s area of responsibility. This will be at our normal Congregational Church Main Street venue,. on Thursday 18th of February. commencing 7Pm There will be the usual cup of tea or coffee and chocolate biscuit and, all being well, a chance to meet our new officer. Various items are on the agenda including our reaction to the media’s recent blanket criticism of “Neighbourliness” or rather, lack of it, within communities. I can assure you they were not talking about our area. Less provocative items will be discussed but one which is very much open for suggestions is the siting of some new Neighbourhood Watch street signs which we we propose to buy and which will further emphasis our positive existence.
