Markfield Neighbourhood Watch

Your Voice, Your Choice - £20,000 for you local area

Do you have an idea for an exciting local project but need a boost? Are you a local resident looking to have your say on how funding is spent on local activities? Are you a representative of a local community group? If the answer to any of these questions is “YES!” this is the event for you!

The three Community Forum areas of (1) Hinckley, (2) Bosworth and (3) Groby,Markfield & Ratby each have a budget of £20,000 to spend in their local area. We are offering residents and representatives of community groups from each Community Forum area the opportunity to propose and vote on exciting, innovative local projects worthy of a £20,000. The dates of the workshops are yet to be confirmed but they are likely to be sometime in September 2009 – please keep an eye of our website for further details

For further information, please contact Juan Pardo on 0116 3057565 or JPardo@leics.gov.uk Let’s hear your ideas – Your Voice, Your Choice!

N.B.
(However, as already stated, Mr Pardo will be with us on the 2nd. July so please come along to hear more and voice your interest and ideas. (Note we here at Markfield are just PART of Group 3 and, will probably just be eligible for part of the £20000.)

Inspector Ball

At our last coffee morning we were delighted to have present Insp Martyn Ball and I have just received a letter from him telling me of his imminent promotion to Chief Inspector, thanking us for our good work and requesting we give his successor, Inspector Ward, the same level of support. Obviously, his letter will be Proudly displayed at our meeting.

Likewise a letter addressed to all Neighbourhood Watch members received from the Leicestershire Police Authority with an open invitation to become a member of their Consultation Panel. Full details of what is involved will be available at the meeting but it is obvious their aim is to communicate at ground floor level – i.e. with those who live and/or work in an area and, as a result, the local knowledge to provide a Police Service that meets our needs.

I am sure a few members may have strong thoughts on that subject and we could well be discussing our official endorsement of their future involvement.

Police Surgeries

I know Richard Lord has already circulated the following message but, as a back up, here are the details again. Please let any friends/neighbours or anyone else you know who may be interested these dates and times.

RICHARD’S MESSAGE
Residents are invited to come along to any of the above events and discuss any local policing issues they may have with their local policing team.

Help us to help you make your neighbourhood a safer place to live and work in.

These dates together with other Police surgeries and consultation events for the Hinckley and Bosworth Policing Area can also be found on the Web site at www.leics.police.uk together with other items of interest regarding your local Neighbourhood.

Finally – and back to our own local business – Anyone with items for discussion at the meeting please contact Chairman Eric so that it can be included on the Agenda. Otherwise, of course, any subject can always be discussed under “Any Other Business” on the evening of the meeting.

Many thanks.
See you on the 2nd. All Best Alex

P.s. Note to email recipients – I will hand deliver a copy of this to all our non email users over the next couple of days.
