Crime update for Markfield, Ratby, Groby and Stanton under Bardon 10/01/12
Happy New Year and welcome to my first Crime update for 2012. So far this year things have gone really well with reductions in crime across the board compared to this time last year. We use year on year comparisons as crime trends often repeat themselves dependant on the season. An example of this is when people leave their cars running to defrost them in the mornings and the car is stolen with the keys. Luckily this year we have had a mild winter so this hasn't been such a problem.
Since the New Year we have had 1 Burglary across the area, this was on Main Street
in Markfield. We had made some significant arrests just before Christmas and these arrests appear to have done the trick. Your Neighbourhood Team are continually patrolling the area looking for suspicious behaviour. And in my words "Burglaries are our priority, everything else is window dressing"
On New Years night we had 1 attempted break into a garage on Pymm Ley Lane
in Groby, this may have been high spirits as we have had no other offences reported.
Significantly we have also not suffered any Vehicle Crime since the New Year!!!... I have authorised my Neighbourhood Team to come on duty early if we have a frosty morning. If they do find an unattended car running on a driveway they will locate the driver, advise them of the potential theft and if they haven't got one they will issue them with a free Ice scraper… Winter isn't over yet…
DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CAR RUNNING!!!
Again we have very little to report on as far as crime is concerned and No Anti Social Behaviour. This is a fantastic result and a reflection of the dedication of all those involved including the Police, Neighbourhood Watch, The council and the great community we have.
