The Belper Arms by moonlight
Originally named “The Shepherd and Shepherdess Inn", The Belper Arms is reputedly the oldest pub in Leicestershire, some parts dating back to c.1290. Famed for its ‘olde worlde' comfort and hospitality down the years, it is currently open from 12.00 noon to 12.00 midnight daily. There is a substantial menu of traditional pub favourites, sure to please every palate. The home cooked food is prepared by the award winning ‘Chef of Distinction', David Cordy and is available every day.
To the rear of the building, there is a large private garden with seating for use in fine weather. Children can enjoy the play equipment, whilst their parents relax with a drink.
A country pub is also at the heart of community life in a small village. The dining room at the rear is often the scene of public meetings or community get togethers, and can be hired for private parties. The biggest beer festival in the region is held every August Bank Holiday.
