On Saturday 30th August 2008, Newton Burgoland saw the unlikely coincidence of two overlapping weddings in the same afternoon. Only a brief record of Lynsey's splendid nuptials could be made in the time available. From one of the oldest families in the village, the Storer's have lived in Newton Burgoland for generations, where they are popular and respected members of the community. Indeed Lynsey's mother Evelyn attended Sunday School in the Chapel where her daughter was to be married. The family live opposite Newton Congregational Chapel which was the venue for this warm and intimate ceremony.

The bride looked stunning in her gown of heavyweight ivory taffeta, appliqued with beaded, jewelled embroidery. The bodice was tailored to show off her slim waist and the back had intricate lacings adding detail. The skirt flared outwards into a generous train, whilst the wedding veil of gossamer tulle tumbled around her shoulders, the tiny crystals catching the light. Her only jewellery was a simple pearl necklace adding an elegant touch. Lynsey carried a large bouquet of white roses, red berries and green foliage. The bridesmaids, Imogen, Carolanne and Abby were dressed in burgundy and ivory and carried matching posies. All the dresses were supplied by "Brides of Ashby"

The gentlemen present wore burgundy coloured ties and/or waistcoats combined with white rose buttonholes, co-ordinating perfectly with the fashionable colour theme.

The bridal party entered the Chapel to the sound of Wagner's Bridal March from his opera "Lohengrin", played on the organ by the ever youthful Doreen Cooper. In a strong, clear voice, Minister Catherine welcomed the congregation with a call to worship. The first hymn chosen by the couple was "Lead us, heavenly Father, lead us". Following the Lord's Prayer, vows were exchanged so that Dave and Lynsey were united as man and wife. The bride's mother Evelyn read aloud William Shakespeare's Sonnet 116: "Let me not to the marriage of true minds..." then Aunt Sue from Swepstone read the ever popular Bible verses of 1 Corinthians 13:1-13.

The second hymn was sung cheerily by the congregation: "Love divine, all loves excelling". After a blessing, the registers were signed and the newly married couple left to the music of Mendelssohn's Wedding March from "A Midsummer Night's Dream". The immaculately polished, chauffeur driven vintage Rolls Royce transported Lynsey and Dave to their Reception at The Appleby Inn, Appleby Parva.

The 52 guests were greeted with glasses of Sherry, Bucks Fizz, Punch or wine. The Wedding Breakfast was extravagant in the choices available. Family and friends could choose starters from Soup of the Day, Prawn Cocktail, Florida Cocktail, Egg Mayonnaise or Melon Boat. The main course was a choice of Roast Beef, Roast Turkey, Roast Pork, Roast Lamb or Roast Chicken Breast, all served with roast and boiled potatoes and a selection of vegetables. The dessert selection was Gateau, Cheesecake, Trifle, Apple Pie or Profiteroles. This was rounded off with coffee and mints. Wine was served with the meal and sparkling wine was served to toast the happy couple.

The first class honeymoon was to be in sunny, sub-tropical Tenerife and Lynsey, a care assistant and Dave, a lorry driver will begin married life at their home in nearby Ibstock. They are wished every happiness for the future.
