A romantic moment as Lara and James share a kiss, although Mackenzie's expression seems to say "Yuk! How soppy!" Ella is on the right.

A wooden rowing scull was filled with ice to cool the many bottles of champagne. The significance of the boat was that Lara gained a Cambridge Blue for rowing in the Year 2000 Boat Race.
The Reception was held at the family home in Newton Burgoland, in a magnificently lavish marquee erected on the carefully trimmed lawns. A sumptuous, pleated fabric ceiling was hung with triple tier, wrought iron chandeliers, while the supporting pillars were garlanded with pink roses. The cover photos on the menu cards reflected James' home town, the historic Fenland city of Cambridge.

Champagne and canapes were served in front of the enormous marquee
One hundred and twenty guests returned from St Peter's Church, to be greeted by waiting staff from "Fine Cuisine of Ashby", proffering Lanson or Elderflower Champagne, accompanied by "amuses-bouches" canapes. The bar area was ignored, in favour of floral fabric covered hay bales distributed round the garden as seating. Guests mingled, enjoying the balmy atmosphere. The many children and young people present, added an air of conviviality and merriment to the proceedings.

As the shadows lengthened and the sun set, guests sat down to Fresh Asparagus wrapped in Parma Ham, served with Parmesan shavings and Hollandaise Sauce. There followed a Roast Leg of English Lamb studded with Garlic and Rosemary, with an Apricot Stuffing. This was accompanied by hot buttered baby new potatoes and a medley of seasonal fresh vegetables. A vegetarian option of Leek, Spinach and Mushroom Strudel with Watercress Sauce was also offered. Dessert was a White Chocolate and Lemon Wedding Cake served with a fruit coulis, then the meal was rounded off with Cheese and Biscuits.
Dancing until the small hours ended the day.

Lara and James were looking forward to their exotic Indian Ocean honeymoon in the Seychelles. They will be making their marital home in Cambridge, where Lara is a GP and James, an accountant. They are wished an eternity of happines together.
Let this special day now draw to a close with the words of the poem printed on the last page of The Order of Service:
PERFECTION by David Kirk
Perhaps perfection seems too bold
A word here to apply.
For once love penetrates the heart,
It spreads to cloud the eye.
Still we in blindness take a chance
And gladly join in Cupid's dance.
For every joyful heart has shown,
Perfection dwells in love alone.
