» RothleySTONE BRIDGE![]() This is a lovely stone bridge over the Rothley Brook and situated on private land at the far end of Town Green Street in Rothley Park. It is dated 1819 and built of coursed squared granite rubble stone and red brick. It has two segmental arches which are brick on the underside. A cutwater either side and three piers rising into the parapet. The top of the parapet is concreted. The ends are slightly splayed. There was a stone tablet on the downstream side dated 1819 but that now appears to have been removed. (Dec 2005). ![]() This bridge spans the Rothley Brook and was formerly part of the carriageway from Rothley Temple (now the Rothley Court Hotel) to the old A6. Last Updated Tue, 10 Jan, 2006. |
