STATION ROAD

This property is listed under Rothley Listed Buildings but is just outside the Rothley Parish Boundary.

This is a Lodge of 1838. Coursed and square granite with stone dressings, rusticated quoins and a Swithland slate roof with ridge and rear stacks. 1 storey in Tudor style with ornamental barge boards to gables and eaves. Entrance faces the drive and left side faces the road. Gables porch with 3 Tudor arches, now filled with a glazed door and windows, leads to door. Tablet with crest over. Two 2-light lattice casements with hood moulds to the right. Date over. On the left side, a 3-light lattice casement with stone tablet carved with Danvers-Butler arms in the gable. Similar 2-light casement to the left and a 3-light casement in 20th century 1 storey extension to the rear. Built as a lodge to Swithland Hall. A pair of gate piers to the drive adjoins the lodge. They are constructed of rusticated granite blocks.
