» RothleyBILL'S WOOD![]() Bill's Wood was planted in March 2004 in memory of Bill Cooper who farmed for many years at Southfield Farm. It covers a large area and extends into Thurcaston Parish and it encloses a stretch of the current and ancient Parish Boundary of Rothley. Bill's Wood has been planted on either side of the Rothley Parish Boundary, close to the Great Central Railway and the Bridle Road from Rothley to Thurcaston. ![]() 2004 The picture above shows the planting on the Rothley side of the Parish Boundary. March 2004. ![]() 2006 A return visit in June 2006 shows healthy, young trees surrounded by vegetation due to the very wet spring this year. This picture shows the Rothley side of the boundary. ![]() 2006 The Thurcaston side looks just as good in June 2006. ![]() 2007 After a very, very wet summer in 2007 the tree growth has been excellent. ![]() 2007 The ground flora has grown considerably in the wet weather of 2007.
