Neighbourhood Watch: Substation Watch

Substations
Substations are secure and protected structures where high voltage electricity is distributed from the National Grid, or local supply networks, and transformed down into more manageable voltage levels for homes and businesses. The equipment contained inside the substation is regularly inspected and maintained. They can be found in both local and rural areas displaying yellow warning signs, and are locked and protected for everyone's safety. Only authorised employees and supervised emergency workers are allowed to enter substations. Please stay out of these substations.
Substations are 'Danger Zones' and every year, despite warnings, people are still killed, or seriously injured, after illegally accessing them.
If you see this or anything like it you need to call us on: 0800 587 3243

Sunshine to your day !
Posted: Thu, 26 Jun 2008 10:39

Sainsbury’s Belgrave Road brings some floral sunshine to your day!
You are about to see a change in the way Sainsbury’s Belgrave Road sells cut flowers. Instead of discounting these beautiful floral arrangements, Sainsbury’s Belgrave Road will be kindly donating their bouquets to local charities. Sainsbury’s Belgrave Road is supporting their community by donating these flowers to their local Vista which is a registered charity for the blind.
Sainsbury’s has recently introduced this policy, to help the local community and also reduce the amount of wastage produced by the company as a whole.
Sainsbury’s Belgrave road is very involved with their local community and Tony Howe, Store Manager says “This is a great scheme. Not only does it bring some sunshine in to peoples live by providing them with flowers to go into their sensory rooms but it also reduces wastage. I am really glad we are able to support Vista and hope that we can continue to work with them in the future.”

Leicestershire County Council and its funding partners are working to improve the way local voluntary and community organisations receive support services from voluntary and community sector (VCS) infrastructure organisations (presently provided in Charnwood by Voluntary Action Charnwood) and represent the sector in a wide range of partnerships.
In order to achieve the desired improvement, Leicestershire County Council is currently consulting on broad outcomes that will be required from a Leicestershire wide voluntary and community sector Infrastructure Organisation.
The consultation is open until 29 July 2008
We encourage all voluntary and community groups in Charnwood to take part in this important opportunity
Please click on the link to complete the consultation online.
Following feedback from a number of people regarding the language on the broad outcomes document, a more easy to read version has been produced and the online form amended as well. The revised version is available on the website http://www.leics.gov.uk/lvcs_have_your_say
If the link does not work, please go to www.leics.gov.uk then click on your council and then have your say.
If you prefer to fill out a paper questionnaire, please contact Anjana Bhatt on abhatt@leics.gov.uk or call 0116 305 6946.
