NEIGHBOURHOOD PRIORITIES FOR SPRING/SUMMER 20081) To improve road safety in the villages working with partner agencies to combat offences of speeding. REPORT ON THE PREVIOUS SIX MONTHS PRIORITIESOur work to deal with groups of young people gathering in their cars, in and around some of the local beauty spots, and taking drugs or behaving anti-socially, has proved very successful. Over the past six months 23 people have been stopped and dealt with for drug offences and another person has been arrested for vehicle document offences. Consultations have proved that this is still a priority, therefore it will continue. Despite carrying out speed check operations at different locations across the beat, our consultation with the community also tells us that speeding remains an issue therefore it will continue to be a priority over the next six months. With regards to working with schools and youth groups we have talked to over 500 children in different schools on safety issues and stranger danger. We have also talked to cubs and pre-school groups. The area around Fowke Street and School Street in Rothley has started to become a problem with anti-social behaviour and damage therefore this will also be a priority over the next six months. NEIGHBOURHOOD PRIORITIES FOR AUTUMN/WINTER 20071) To continue to improve road safety in the villages working with partner agencies to tackle speeding. REPORT ON PREVIOUS SIX MONTHS PRIORITIESWe have been working closely with our partner agencies and have carried out speed checks at various locations in the villages on 22 occasions and have dealt with more than 100 drivers for speeding offences. We have been working closely with Neighbourhood Watch Schemes circulating information and advice and we helped to create new schemes covering 14 streets and over 300 households. We have taken the Rural Beat Vehicle to various locations around the villages and beauty spot car parks giving out the appropriate crime prevention advice to help reduce burglaries and car crime, which are two of the Neighbourhood Priorities. Vehicle crime on the car parks at local beauty spots have reduced with only 9 recorded crimes on all four car parks over the last 6 months. A joint vehicle crime initiative took place on the car parks with Charnwood Borough Council to help us in reducing crime and advising motorists. 9 people have been arrested for burglary in the last six months across the five villages.
